Seussical was created by Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty. It is based on the works of Theodor Seuss Geisel - a popular American children’s author better known under the pen name Dr. Seuss. The musical represents a complicated mix of Seuss’ most famous stories, its’ main plot is mostly based upon "Horton Hears a Who!", "Horton Hatches the Egg" and "Miss Gertrude McFuzz".

Seussical premiered on Broadway at the Richard Rodgers Theater on November 30, 2000. It was directed by Frank Galati  and choreographed by Kathleen Marshall.

The story of the musical reveals the adventures of Horton The Elephant who hears the Whos – tiny creatures from planet Who. Their planet is invisible to the eye, literally a speck of dust. Numerous jungle citizens are not able to see or hear those tiny folks and thus consider Horton crazy. The elephant overcomes many obstacles to convince the Jungle world that the Whos really do exist, finding faithful friends and true love on the way.

Seussical is probably the most beloved project in MESS Theatre. The project premiered in Moscow on November 17, 2009. The closing night took place on April 16, 2012.

In spring 2018, Seussical came back to the Russian stage, reinvented and redefined, but still performed by MESS Theatre.
